Conference Attendee Wears Hat Suggesting Trump Loyalty, Contagion Fears Erupt

NEW ORLEANS (RPT) – Chaos erupted at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) conference when an attendee was seen wearing a hat that implied support for incumbent president Donald Trump’s re-election. The hat featured Realtree camo and the words “Gulf Coast Gator Ranch & Tours.” Terrified conference goers fled the scene because of contagion fears.

An RPT reporter caught up with a concerned attendee who witnessed the incident, “I was horrified. Given the mere exposure effect, I know that just looking at the hat might make me more likely to vote for Trump.” RPT asked a political virologist about the threat posed by the hat. “Well, we still don’t know much about the incubation period for mere visual exposure to ambiguously Trump related paraphernalia. It could be two days, it could be two months. Given the rapidly approaching general election, we are committing all of our resources to learning everything we can about the issue.”

The conference attendee who was wearing the hat told RPT, “I don’t know what the big deal is. I just went on one of those airboat tours and saw the hat in the gift shop afterwards and thought it was cool.” The suspected Trump voter is currently in the custody of SPSP officials and the hat is under level 3 biohazard quarantine. In the meantime, we caution readers not to look at the hat pictured in this story.
